Rossburn Subdivision Trail Association invites you to our Manitoba Trails Day Event!
Manitoba Trails Day coincides with International Trails Day, a day dedicated to celebrate trails – RSTA is excited to announce that we’re hosting a trail event in partnership with Trans Canada Trail.
Join us on June 1 to celebrate our beloved trail!
A little preview of what is going to happen:
11:00 am – Inaugural walk (approx. 4.5 km) along our new storybook trail, starting from Erickson at the boat ( 50.498368, -99.917626).
1:00 pm – Meeting close to the new Erickson Water Tower Rest Stop for a BBQ followed by ribbon cutting, greetings from our guests and of course cake.
More details to come! We will update this page 🙂
In the meantime, you can also follow our event on Facebook!
Let's come together and enjoy a day on the Rossburn Subdivision Trail!
You can join us for the barbecue directly if you want to skip the inaugural walk of the storybook trail!
Meet us at municipal road 107.5 along the old Highway 10 around 1 pm. You can park at the curbside. Just make sure to not block the road, please.
From the barbecue spot, it is only about ~300 meters to the water tower rest stop where we will have the official opening.
Our new storybook trail
Our new storybook trail will lead you from Erickson at the Viking boat to the Water Tower Rest Stop (~4.5km one way). You will find 18 signs along the trail, each displaying a page of a book. So, you can read a story while you walk or bike!
In the future, young and young-at-heart will be able to enjoy nature, exercise and reading along the way improving literacy, and physical and mental health.
This particular project was not only supported by Trans Canada Trail but also received funding from Assiniboine North Parent Child Coalition. We are looking forward to working with Rolling River First Nation to help us select indigenous stories to showcase.
We also thank the Municipality of Clanwilliam-Erickson for volunteering their public works ‘manpower’ to set up the storybook signs.
This event is made possible by the generous support of Trans Canada Trail – thank you!
We are one out of 10 trail groups Trans Canada Trail has chosen to highlight in Canada this year, the only one in Manitoba. What an honor!
Where to find the new rest stop?
This new rest area is located on the Rolling River at Highways #10 & 45 Junction right along the Rossburn Subdivision Trail – and not far from the Elk Link Trail.
